Leaders Guide to Communication with Generation Z Members
Move over, millennials! HR experts have discussed Gen Y at length in the past decade. All the articles lamenting over millennial malaise in the workplace and championing their technological prowess. Now, thereâs a new kid in town and theyâre catching everyoneâs attention: Generation Z.
From a nice clear article on Generation Z at work, here’s another challenge to do a “vincentian rewrite” of to help us welcome new members.
The “RisePeople” blog nails down some important information for us.
Generation Z (a.k.a. those born in the mid-1990s and later), is now entering the workforce. Theyâve been labeled as an exaggerated archetype of millennials: even more tech-savvy and screen-obsessed, and with even higher expectations.
This means they’re entering ministry and formation programs, too. Are we ready?
Don’t confuse Generation Z folks with millennials. The research shows that their communication preferences at work are very different. Methinks that means reaching out to them and welcoming them in has to have a different approach, too.
Rise says they prefer
- in-person meetings,
- honest communication and feedback,
- and they don’t like hierarchical relations and styles!
Uh oh! Read the article here and think about what this research means to your recruitment or vocation program!
