All (Vincentian) Saints
In celebration of All Saints Day this week, let’s look at our Vincentian Saints and Blesseds. There are ten Vincentian Family Saints, six women and four men. There are 64 Vincentian Family Blesseds; 22 individuals from throughout our history plus 42 Martyrs of the 20th century Spanish Civil War. Next week on November 11, 2017, there will be a great celebration of the Vincentian Family in Spain and throughout the rest of the world: another 60 witnesses of the faith, members of our Vincentian Family, will be beatified in Madrid.
- 40 are members of the Congregation of the Mission (24 priests and 16 brothers)
- 5 are diocesan priests (the diocese of Murcia) who served as spiritual advisors to the various lay Associations of the Vincentian Family
- 2 are Daughters of Charity
- 7 are members of the Children of Mary (today known as the Vincentian Marian Youth)
- 6 are members of the Miraculous Medal Association
All of these individuals were martyred during the religious persecution which took place during the time of Spanish Civil War (1936-1939).
