Vincentian View of the Stations of the Cross

by | Mar 6, 2016 | Formation

One way of looking at the Stations of the Cross is that we’re praying in a spirit of reparation for the sufferings and insults that Jesus endured during His Passion. Pope Saint John Paul II referred to Acts of Reparation as the “unceasing effort to stand beside the endless crosses on which the Son of God continues to be crucified”. In a Vincentian context, then, the Stations of the Cross can become a way of meditating on, with an aim to repair, our sins against those who are poor or marginalized— a way of making reparation to the offended majesty of God for the outrages which Jesus, in the person of the poor, so constantly suffers.

For easy access, you can save the link as a shortcut on your phone or tablet’s home screen. Even bring it to church with you when you make your Stations (as long as you remember to turn the phone’s volume down all the way, you shouldn’t be a disturbance to others who are praying).
