Wise Asset Management in Kenya
Exploring strategies for systemic change, wise asset management and grant writing is the focus of a gathering the Vincentian missionaries in Nairobi, Kenya these days. Sharing wisdom and seeking wisdom to move from subsidy to self-sufficency is the theme of the event. You can “learn to serve” by taking a look at VinFormation’s Toolkit for Wise Asset Management.
Team members Fr. Robert P. Maloney, C.M. Fr. Joseph V. Agostino, C.M. and Sister Margaret Marie Clifford, D.C. from the Vincentian family office are leading the workshop, teaching skills and giving perspectives, while enjoying the wisdom and experience of the missionaries who work day-to-day with God’s poor in the eastern African nation. From Saturday Feb 21 to Tuesday morning Feb 24, 2015 the Congregation of the Mission is hosting this “Wise Assets Management, Strategic Planning, Grant Writing” workshop at DePaul Centre outside of Nairobi. The international team of presenters help developing provinces in the congregation to move from subsidy to self-sufficiency while increasing their capacity to change the lives of the poor. In attendance are members of the Vincentian family, diocesan collaborators in local apostolates and friends of the Congregation of the Mission. Presently, the number of attendees is about 120. This continues a series of such workshops for the Vincentian Family on Wise Asset Management, Strategic Planning, and Grant-Writing â announced by Father Gregory Gay, CM on FamVin in 2014.
The topics are presented in an integrated manner, rather than treated separately. An interactive methodology is used, engaging the participants in planning and writing. Local participation is essential, to overcome and integrate cultural differences in style and approach to problems.
