Vincentian Family Commissions Metting

Last week the VFO published the First Vincentian Family Commissions Meeting in Rome. As we told, we will be publishing the goals that each commission wrote up during the meeting.

Today we introduce the Strategic Plan of the .famvin Commission.

Goals of the .famvin Commission

During the January 2017 Vincentian Family Commissions meeting, the .famvin team reviewed the major goals and time tables for implementation of its 2015-2017 Strategic Plan. Highlighted in blue are the lines of action that will guide .famvin as it transitions to a new leadership structure beginning in June of 2017.

  • to create a multilingual, multicultural digital resource, regularly updated, utilized by the Vincentian Family and collaborators, especially the young, and one that will be fiscally viable;
  • to serve the real needs of the Vincentian Family by promoting mutual awareness, ongoing formation in spirituality, heritage, mission, values, and ministry;
  • to be accessible to the Vincentian Family all over the world, focusing where internet access is difficult to procure on a regular basis;
  • to be relevant to the ever changing manifestations of poverty throughout the world by providing information, formation, and resources so that members of the Vincentian Family will be able to respond to the signs of the times with a coherent, collaborative and effective evangelization strategy;
  • to identify and exploit each “digital evangelizing moment,” which is a specific transient instant that spans multiple channels and ecosystems.

Our responses in 2017 and 2018 include

  1. the finalization of an integration process among famvin.org, vinformation.org and vincentians.com and its social media channels (the .famvin Digital Network);
  2. the division of leadership into

i. overall leadership/creative authority= team

ii. divisional leadership

(a) famvin.org and vincentians.com = Javier Chento

(b) vinformation = Monica (Watson) Smith

(c) financial development = Aidan R. Rooney

3. the direct inclusion of the other commissions and the VFO task group on formation in preparing a “formation agenda” for the entire .famvin Digital network

4. the exploration and implementation of online learning and certification;

While implementing its own formational, informational and communications agenda, the team will continue to respond to the initiatives of the VFO and the VFEC, especially surrounding the 400th anniversary and the ongoing initiative against homelessness.

After June 2017 the team will evaluate the implementation of the Strategic Plan measured by:

  • the creation of well-functioning teams;
  • the ability of the project to expand its reach across all language groups and generations.
  • the identification of adequate fiscal resources to continue this work.
  • the identification and implementation of a coherent editorial and managerial structure.

This will provide the basis for a new strategic plan.
