So, here I am, on the Bolivian Altiplano, serving in a Vincentian International mission. I’m on Facebook and I write a blog. We don’t have cable. We don’t have 4G or 3G connections. We have very slow 2G, like most of the rural developing world. In countries like Bolivia, high speed internet is only in the cities, and 3G along the highways. But we can buy old “smartphones” cheaply!
So, I’ve learned to connect to “mobile sites,” designed specifically for smartphones when you can’t use the “APPS” that iPhone and other advanced phones thrive on. Famvin has a mobile site. So does Facebook. But I wanted one place to go for all my daily Vincentian News (FamVin, Congregation of the Mission, Daughters of Charity, etc.), since not all of them have mobile sites.
Then I found “winksite and signed up“, where I could build my own little mobile site that would gather news from all over. It took some exploring, but here’s what I came up with. Try it (this is actually an emulation of the real thing!) Go ahead, click the links on the smartphone below, and then keep reading.

Every day, I can read my news! And, with a little exploring and learning, you can too! If you what to build your own and are having trouble, just comment and I’ll try my best to help. Or, use my site on your smartphone– It’s free!
If you’re a developer, or a devoted amateur like me, I recommend this article. Happy reading!
