About 100 Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth will be partying with a Dixieland band aboard an NJ Transit commuter train during the evening rush hour today as they celebrate the 150th anniversary of their congregation by retracing the steps of their founder. The sisters are retracing the route of Mother Mary Xavier Mehegan in 1859. “She came from Newark on a train, all she had was a statue (of the Virgin Mary) and a $5 bill,” said Donna Sartor.
