Interview with Fr. Carl Pieber, Deputy Director of the International Miraculous Medal Association

by | Nov 15, 2021 | Association of the Miraculous Medal, News

Father Pieber, how and when was the International Miraculous Medal Association born?

With its own Ends and Statutes, the Miraculous Medal Association was officially approved and recognized by the whole Church in the brief Dilectus Filius signed by Pope St. Pius X on July 8, 1909. This approval placed the Association under the direction of the Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission and the Company of the Daughters of Charity, with the title of Director General.

What is the mission of your association and who is part of it?

The mission of the Miraculous Medal Association Is to spread devotion to Mary Immaculate under her title of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and to give her medal to all who will wear it. The Association is a public association of the faithful, composed of laity, clergy, and members of institutes of consecrated life and societies of apostolic life who wear the miraculous medal and honor it with a Christian and apostolic life, each member doing so according to his/her state of life.

Fr. Carl Pieber, C.M.

Is there an episode or a story related to your association to share with us?

We continually receive many prayer requests and other comments through our international website, for example:

It was lovely to see your celebration for the Feast of the Assumption and your devotion to our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. May the devotion continue to grow and be a great strength and help in your daily lives. Blessings. Sr. Marie Westblade dc

On January 2020 you participated in the meeting held in Rome: after more than a year, what are your considerations on that meeting? What are the challenges of charity?

I thought the meeting was good.  I met some new members of the Family and saw some friends from other families.  I was strengthened In my faith by the many people who participated in the meetings and all the work for the poor that was being done.   The challenges of charity are always the same selfishness, greed, and egoism/pride.

Could you leave us a sentence that encompasses the meaning of your service as an Association?

It Is only with prayer, especially to Mary, that any and all service to others Is both human and divine.
