This report, produced by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Council General International, covers the highlights of a very special meeting which was attended by over 120 young people from roughly 100 countries around the world.

This is the second time for Salamanca to host the SSVP International Youth Meeting. The first one was held in 2008 and, ten years after this first international youth event, a second one was held in June 2018, under the leadership of our fellow member, Renato Lima.

The report compiles the official speeches made to the young people: interesting formation-related topics, the spirituality we experienced, the most memorable fraternal moments, as well as the media impact of the meeting and its capacity to raise civil society’s awareness as to how to “show young people that one can be Catholic and have common sense, love religion and freedom”, in order to “keep them away from religious indifference”. The 3rd International Youth Meeting will also be held in Salamanca in 2023, a venue officially chosen for these international meetings, which will be held every five years.
