Vinnies supports calls to keep Christ in Christmas

The St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland strongly supports
calls made by Liberal MP Gary Hardgrave to ‘put Christ back in
Christmas’.

While St Vinnies assists those in need regardless of their race,
creed or religion, the Society believes Christian traditions and
values inherent in the Christmas story should be preserved.

Vice President John Campbell said: “Christmas is a time to
celebrate Christ’s sacrifices for us and it is important we don’t
loose sight of that.

“Christmas is about enjoying time with family and thinking of
others that aren’t as fortunate.”

This year the St Vincent de Paul Society will display nativity
scenes in each of their 140 St Vinnies shops throughout
Queensland and the theme of the Society’s Christmas Appeal
is: “Even the first Christmas family needed a little help.”

We hope to raise $300,000 to assist Queenslanders in need.
