How is Vatican Radio using technology – especially new media technology – to bring the voice of the Pope to all creation?
Vatican Radio will be providing thirteen English Language commentaries for events over the three days of Papal pilgrimage, all of which will be available by conventional radio (according to geographic location, on AM, FM and short wave), as well as streaming audio on the internet and on apps for mobile devices.
“In reality,” explained Lovett, “Vatican Radio’s commentaries – not just for the Papal visit, but in general – are now present on every single available platform – every single technological platform currently known to humanity.”
This was the focus of a conversation recently between the Director of English programming at Vatican Radio, Seàn-Patrick Lovett, and Chris Altieri of Vatican Radio’s English service.
The specific context of their conversation was the upcoming pilgrimage of Pope Francis to the Holy Land, scheduled for May 24th-26th.
