SYDNEY, June 5, 2006 (smh.com.au): Adele Horin reports for the Sydney Morning Herald – Australia’s biggest charities have refused to take part in a Federal Government program to manage the increased numbers of unemployed people who will lose their entire benefits for eight weeks after new rules come into force on July. ….While some charities, such as the Brotherhood of St Laurence and the St Vincent de Paul Society, have refused to sign up, others, such as the Salvation Army, are wrestling with the practical and moral dilemma of whether to become an agent for a policy they believe is unjust.
