The Ladies of Charity are offering a tour of some of St. Louis’ most beautiful Catholic churches — and they’re doing it for a good cause.

The group of lay women volunteers, based out of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in the Soulard neighborhood, will lead a tour of several historical parishes in South St. Louis on Saturday, April 30. Proceeds from the tour will go to help the poor in the area.

The event will start at 11 a.m. with a simple lunch provided at St. Vincent de Paul, said organizer Jan Swederska. Bus transportation will be provided for the tour, which is scheduled to begin at noon. The cost is $25, said Swederska.

The churches included in the tour are: St. John Nepomuk, St. Mary of Victories, St. Francis de Sales, St. Agatha and Immaculate Conception/St. Henry.

“St. Louis’ long Catholic heritage has expressed one facet of its faith — the many old, beautiful churches that highlight the city skyscape,” said Swederska, who read from an advertisement for the tour.

“Another facet of St. Louis’ Catholic legacy is the Ladies of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, located in Soulard and serving the neighborhood around St. Vincent’s Church.
