DEPAUL USA AWARDED HOUSING PROGRAMS IN ST. LOUIS
The City of St. Louis has awarded Depaul USA operating grants for the Project MORE and Project PLUS programs effective October 1, 2013. These two programs provide scattered site housing and services to 70 formerly homeless men and women in St. Louis. Earlier this year, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in St. Louis announced that it would no longer administer the programs. Depaul USA will hire the five St. Vincent de Paul employees in St. Louis who successfully created and operated the programs.
“Project MORE and PLUS are very effective programs that allow homeless men and women to escape the streets, attain housing, access services, and build lives of greater independence,” according to Charles W. Levesque, Executive Director of Depaul USA. “We are delighted to take on the operation of these programs and look forward to working with the community to end homelessness in St. Louis.”
Depaul USA is a national homeless services organization. In addition to the St. Louis programs, it operates a transitional housing program for men in Philadelphia, a day/resource center in Macon, GA and a caseworker/rapid rehousing program in New Orleans. Depaul USA owns Immaculate Cleaning Services, LLC, a for-profit commercial cleaning company that generates revenue for its programs.
