“Vincent the Musical” – presented by the Marian Youth Association of Cantania.
“Today, January 25, we remember the foundation of the Congreation of the Mission by Vincent de Paul (January 25, 1617)..  At the same time the Vincentian Family deepens the gift of vocation and consecration to God — both gifts lead us evangelize and serve the poor.

This year, animated by the sensetivity and the willingness of Father Biagio Falco, C.M. Visitor of the Congregation and Sister Vittoria Camiolo, D.C. Visitatrix of the Daughters of Charity, with the support of the Province of Naples, the Center for Vocational Promotion for Vincentians in collaboration with the Daughters of Charity, wishes to remember this event, by involving the whole Vincentian Family in the presentation of “Vincent – the Musical” which is presented by the Marian Youth Association of Cantania.

This work was begun in 2002  and presented on stage on March 22, 2004 in the Metropolitian Theatre of Catania and again on Setpember 23 in the Politeama de Lecce.  The work was written by Sister Rosanna Pitarresi, D.C. with the collaboration and supervision of Father Luigi Mezzadri, C.M.  (for its historial and cultural aspects).  The text and the music were composed by Claudio Mantenga in collaboration with Gaetano Roro and Danielle Caudillo.

This theatrical work narrates the history of Saint Vincent de Paul and is narrated by the young people who give this history a new perspective.  It deals with a living Vincent de Paul who even today is able to speak to individuals and make them reflect on diverse themes, such as: war, abortion, abandonment in the homes, and other problems connected with the the experiences of young people, etc.

This presentation, with irs lighting, special effects, color, costuming, changes of scenery, erc., create emotions that proceed from various musical generes:   classical, rock, pop, dance and at the same times mixes comedy and drama and modern and classical dance.
