SYDNEY, August 15, 2004 (catholicweekly.com.au): A common Christian concern for the poor and disadvantaged in our nation has led social welfare and justice groups to organise a federal election campaign on the theme ‘Vote 1 No More Poverty’, says Terry McCarthy of the St Vincent de Paul Society. Christian Community Services Against Poverty consists of the Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, Anglicare Australia, Catholic Health Australia, Catholic Welfare Australia, the Australian Conference of Leaders of Religious Institutes, Jesuit Social Services, the St Vincent de Paul Society and UnitingCare Australia.

It also has the support of the Australian Islamic Council and the Baptist Union.
