From January 10-12, the JMV International Council met in Rome, at the General Curia of the C.M., to evaluate the progress of the Association over the past year and plan the activities for 2003. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of participation and hope.

At this council the following items were approved: the report on the accounts for 2002;

– the expense budget for 2003;
the statistical report; the theme of JMV for this year:

“- Reflecting Love and Peace in the World”;

– some visits to animate the running of JMV in various countries (Panama, Brazil, Madagascar, Congo, and Cuba).

Edurne Urdampilleta was commissioned to accompany Gladys Abi-Saïd to the next meeting of the heads of the International Vincentian Family (Rome, February 7-9).

Testimony was heard from the two volunteers of the International Secretariat who have completed their service and are returning to their countries: Gloria Santillán, of Mexico, and Ivanildo Dantas, of Brazil. Also, the new team for the Secretariat was chosen: Dorys Maribel Castillo (Ecuador), Augusto Gustavo Gómez (Venezuela), Toninho García Reis Junior (Brazil), Pamela Mantuhac Bugtai (Philippines), Marie Nelly Yasmine Cajuste (Haiti).

The new Formula for the Marian Consecration and the Book of Prayers of JMV, which will be sent promptly to all the countries, were approved.

It was also decided to publish on our web site a listing of formation materials for JMV in different languages, in order to encourage exchange among countries.

A European Meeting of the JMV National Councils, to be held in Madrid next December 5-8, was scheduled. The next meeting of the JMV International Council will be September 13-14 of this year in Rome.
