The Slovenian Province celebrated 150 years of Vincentian presence in that country (1852). The celebrations were held in Celje (a city that is located about 75 kilometers from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia), the place where the first house of the province was established. During the celebration, the superiors of the Congregation, the Daughters of Charity and the Sisters of the Miraculous Medal (a Congregation that was founded in Slovenia in 1926) met together. Rev. Józef Kapu_ciak, Assistant General, participated in two of these celebrations: on 24 September, during the meeting of the local superiors, he gave a conference entitled: “The Superior as an animator of community life”; then, on 25 September, during the Provincial Gathering at which about 30 members of the province were present, Fr. Kapu_ciak spoke about the reality of the Congregation in the world, especially in Central Europe.

On 27 October, again in the city of Celje, the main celebration of this anniversary was held. Many people gathered together to celebrate the Eucharist which was presided by the Bishop of Maribor. Six other bishops (including our two confreres) and 130 priests concelebrated. The Visitors of Austria, Slovakia and Hungry, along with other representatives from these provinces were also present. The confreres of Slovenia also labor in Serbia, Macedonia, Canada, and Argentina.
