This 100 homes building project began in November 2005, eleven months after the tragedy, when Sr. Julma Neo, General Councillor, visited and saw the miserable state of the families. The aim of the project was to meet the most basic human need of the families by providing good housing in two villages. The financial assistance received from the Mother House and the keen interest of Sister Evelyne Franc, Superioress General and the General Council helped to make this project a reality. The 10th December was also a day of rejoicing for the Daughters of Charity of the South Indian Province as they saw the smiling faces of these 100 families. This was a reward that could only come from God.

I’ve come back to this article again and again. It fills me with a sense of great hope in our international community. It confirms my belief that we are not working alone, but are still the prophetic community St. Vincent founded.
Thanks so much for your comment. It’s interesting how some articles continue to call us back again and again.
