The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have posted news of their workshop “Understanding Systemic Change & Gender Justice”
In responding to the call of the Province and General Assembly, 35 SCNs attended a Systemic Change Workshop and Gender Justice at the Provincial House in Patna from Aug. 30-31, 2014. The resource persons were SCNs Jane Karakunnel, Marianne Puthoor and Roselyn Karakattu.
Participants were happy to be exposed to a new understanding of systemic change through a change of attitude and active listening.
The resource team presented in depth “Gender Policy of the Catholic Church of India, 2010.” Sister Jane gave a scriptural understanding of the policy.
Sisters actively participated throughout the sessions. Plans were made and shared to carry it forward in personal lives and in ministry in the future. The group also discussed and shared the areas where women in India have not claimed their rightful place in the church and society.
Many of the Sisters shared in groups how they will practice gender justice in their lives and ministry.
