Recent days have noted increasing expectations for the advancement of the cause for the canonization of Archbishop Oscar Romero. The Romero Trust is responsible for making available thewritings that will be used in reviewing his cause as he moves toward canonization. Many of these materials have been made available in translation on the website of the Romero Trust.
Oscar Romero was a priest and bishop in El Salvador. His love for his people who were suffering violence and oppression led him to take their side and to denounce their oppressors. And so he was killed, whilst saying Mass, on 24th March 1980.
This website makes available a precious resource bank of materials on Archbishop Romero’s life and martyrdom:
- texts of his homilies as Archbishop between 1977 and 1980 and his four Pastoral Letters all in English translation;
- photographs from childhood to his assassination and funeral;
- lectures and literature about Archbishop Romero,
- links to other websites, news of future events and much more.
