“Systemic change” – a phrase that has entered into the Vincentian Family vocabulary in recent years.
For many who are used to focusing on the immediate and pressing needs of people it can seem abstract and new. Yet it has roots deep in Vincentian Family tradition whether as exemplified in the life and words of Vincent and Louise or Frederic who said “Charity is the Samaritan who pours oil on the wounds of the traveler who has been attacked. It is justice’s role to prevent the attack.”
In its simplist form is can be described at giving our brothers and sisters “a hand up”.
