The Sisters of Charity of New York posted a tribute to Sister Agnes Connolly (Sister Agnes Miriam).
Throughout her life Sister Agnes inspired all with her knowledge, professionalism and dedication in caring for the sick and those who cared for them. As a sister in leadership, she was innovative, decisive and inspirational. The list of those she inspired and helped is long and varied. Take your rest, Sister Agnes, with the God you served so very well. Her two terms as President saw her caring for each individual sister, the Congregation’s institutions, and new ventures with her characteristic compassion, courage, and intelligence.
Completing two terms as president in 1987 did not mean retirement for Sister Agnes—she became Director for Mission Effectiveness for the Alliance of Catholic Health and Human Services for the Archdiocese of New York. Sister Agnes continually shared her talents and experiences by serving on the board of trustees of several institutions, including Covenant House. As she moved into retirement, she served at the Convent of Mary the Queen as a volunteer spending time with our sisters and being a presence to them.
