A few months ago Fr. Robert Maloney wrote of Mary’s Meals as an example of systemic change that works.
He told the story …”a simple idea that works by providing a daily meal in a place of education, chronically poor children are attracted to the classroom where they can gain a basic education that provides an escape route from poverty.”
It is now even receiving Papal attention.
A couple of weeks ago the founder answered the phone at home whilst holding his crying two year old. “It sounded as if the person at the other end of the phone said he was from the Vatican and was asking if I would like to come to meet Pope Francis. After hurriedly handing Gabriel to one of his elder brothers, I asked the man at the end of the phone to repeat himself. But I had indeed heard correctly the first time.”
