Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill Host Conference for Formation Personnel
The 2013 annual meeting of the Company of Charity Formation Personnel (CCFP) was hosted by the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill at the Bishop Connare Center in Greensburg, PA, April 3-7. The final Saturday session and the closing Sunday Eucharist took place at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill. The theme for the conference was “Blessings of Vatican II: Moving Forward in Hope.”
The conference was attended by representatives of 10 communities (listed below).
Session presentations on the CARA study, “Moving Forward in Hope: Keys to the Future” were offered by Sisters Vicki Lichtenauer, SCL, Maureen Corcoran, SC (New Jersey), and Denise LaRock, DC. Sisters of Charity Federation Executive Director, Julie Cutter, DC, presented an update on Federation initiatives that have been implemented since the Federation’s June 2012 meeting. The keynote address for the event was given by Barbara Reid, OP. Sister Barbara is the Professor of New Testament Studies and Vice President/ Academic Dean at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago. She spoke about the Post-Vatican II fifty year renewal process of women religious and posed questions and issues critical to the next 50 years. Her talk put the past 50 years in perspective and provoked both hope and challenge concerning the next generation of religious life. Hope-filled participants of the conference look forward to the 2014 CCFP meeting which will take place in Cincinnati, April 23-27.
