The New York and New Jersey members of the Sisters of Charity Federation are inviting all their members and associates to contact legislators and urge comprehensive immigration reform, juxtaposing both the borders we maintain and the realization that the Kingdom of God cannot be realized with fenced borders and political walls.
“As both Houses are in session during September, we ask sisters and associates throughout the Federation to call their representatives and follow‐up. We want them to know how broad‐based our presence is throughout the country and we want to let them know of our firsthand knowledge of the situation of immigrants and their families.
“Continue to enlist others in prayer for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Include it in the intentions for Eucharist, blurbs in newsletters, further reading, saying the rosary and offering the welcome to all our neighbors.
“The target date for this is October 1st. Please send the responses that you have received in contacting your legislators. We would like to know the success of this effort as well as the challenges that lie ahead.
