According to the Canberra Times the female CEOs who are participating in Thursday’s Vinnies CEO Sleepout are focusing on the hidden face of female homelessness. The latest figures show more than 60 per cent of people assisted by a homelessness service were women. And the majority of people turned away from specialist homelessness services are women and their children.
More than 150 CEOs have registered for the Canberra sleepout at the National Gallery of Australia, so far raising more than $230,000.
Leading the local fundraisers are Department of Immigration and Citizenship acting secretary Martin Bowles who has raised $10,253 and Department of Human Services secretary Kathryn Campbell who has raised $7364. Keep warm!
