The Tribune-Review writes “The United States Province of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill has elected and installed its 2012-2016 Provincial Council.
Members of the province gathered May 27 at Caritas Christi, the congregation’s motherhouse in Hempfield, for a special Liturgy that included the ritual of installation.
Sister Catherine Meinert was elected to a four-year term as provincial superior/president of the province. Joining her on the Provincial Council are Sister Mary Norbert Long as first councilor, Sister Brycelyn Eyler as second councilor, Sister Susan Jenny as third councilor, and Sister Barbara Einloth as fourth councilor.
Meinert was first elected to the council in 2007 and has served as councilor and canonical treasurer for the past five years. She previously served as principal of Conn-Area Catholic School in Connellsville. Long will begin her term of office after serving as principal of St. Mary-Basha School in Chandler, Ariz. Eyler will begin her second term. Prior to her election in 2007, she served as principal of Aquinas Academy in Greensburg. Jenny most recently served as coordinator of ministry development at Mt. St. Peter Parish in New Kensington.
Einloth’s most recent ministry was that of pastoral associate at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hudson, Ohio.
The newly elected Provincial Council is responsible for the administration and leadership of the United States Province, which numbers 208 sisters in active or retired ministry. Another 207 sisters serve in the Korean Province.
The Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill is an international, apostolic community of women religious who serve in five countries, 13 United States dioceses, and four United States archdioceses. Founded in 1870, the congregation traces its roots to the first American saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton. The Sisters of Charity minister primarily in the areas of education, health care, pastoral care, and social services.
