We are pleased to inform you that we have been officially admitted as an UN-NGO member of ECOSOC under the category of Special Consultative Status with no voting rights. This consultative status provides NGOs like us with access to not only ECOSOC but also to its many subsidiary bodies, to the various human rights mechanisms of the United Nations, economic and social development, gender issues, sustainable development, attend relevant conferences organized by UN as well as special events organized by the President of the General Assembly.
There are numerous conferences organized by ECOSOC and UN on a range of topics such as Discrimination against Women, Social Justice, Human Rights, Famine, World Aids Day, Sustainable Development, Better jobs for young people etc.
We are required to submit a report every four years on the work we have undertaken in support of the goals of ECOSOC and the United Nations.
There are a total of 3,536 NGOs with consultative status with ECOSOC comprising of 144 with General Consultative Status, 2,408 with Special Consultative Status(like us) and 984 with Roster Status. NGOs with General Consultative Status and Roster Status have no voting rights too.
