Angie Martz, SCIC recently received a certificate of honour from the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace. Based in Saint John, New Brunswick, the Sister of Charity of the Immaculate Conception was recognized for her commitment to social justice and efforts “to improve living conditions for the poorest of the poor in the Global South.” The honour came during a Feb. 4 diocesan Development and Peace meeting in Fredericton, N.B. which Sister Martz was unable to attend. The certificate of honour was signed by Ronald Breau of Fredericton, president of the Development and Peace national council. They express his “heartfelt gratitude” for showing solidarity “with the marginalized and oppressed” and for “work in helping to strengthen” the Development and Peace movement. (SCIC photo)
