While the South Pacific seems not tot figure in international secular or church news to the same degree as Europe, America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, the Church and the St Vincent de Paul Society are alive and well in many countries of Oceania. The International Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society has recently posted to its site a report from the Society in Tonga. The report, complete with many pictures, focuses on the celebration of the Feast of St Vincent de Paul in September 2011. It is good to know of some of the work being done by Vinnies in Tonga, especially that of looking after the elderly and disabled in various parishes. (Thanks to CM Australian site)
