On 23-25 September 2011 the five national subsidiaries of Depaul International celebrated the feast day of St. Vincent de Paul by launching their first Homeless Awareness Weekend. The goals of the weekend are to raise international awareness of the issue of homelessness, highlight innovative local responses to homelessness, and deepen solidarity with homeless people and among Depaul subsidiaries. A variety of service, reflection and celebratory events are planned. In the UK, Depaul’s Grove Project will host an open house to raise funds for the rehabilitation of a Depaul hostel in Slovakia. In Philadelphia, volunteers from Villanova University will paint and upgrade public areas at Depaul House, a transitional housing program for men.
