Depaul UK, the UK’s largest youth homelessness charity, is recruiting members of the public in London who are willing to offer a room to a young person who would otherwise be homeless. The Supported Lodgings campaign, which Depaul UK is launching, is in response to the recent rise in youth homelessness, which has risen for the first time in a decade and in response to many people who are asking what they can do to help.
The scheme acts as a stepping stone for homeless young people who do not yet have the skills they need to live independently but can learn them through the modeling of a family.
Young People are asked
- Are you leaving care soon and wondering where to live?
- Are you facing homelessness, or unhappy in temporary accommodation?
- Could supported lodgings be right for you?
Hosts are provided with the following
Some questions followers of Vincent can think about
- How different is this initiative from what Vincent did over 350 years ago?
- What is your honest emotional reaction to opening your home to a young person?
- Do you think the Depaul International people are on the right track?
