We have just learned that Sheila Gilbert will assume the duties of President of the St. Vincent dePaul Society USA. She is the first woman to head the Society in the US. Joe Flannigan outgoing President writes…
“I am pleased to announce that National Secretary Sheila Gilbert has been elected the 12th President of the National Council of the U.S. Society of St. Vincent de Paul. She will be officially commissioned at the closing liturgy of the National Meeting on September 4, 2011. President-Elect Gilbert will take office on October 1, 2011.
Please join me in congratulating Sheila, and offering her your prayers and good wishes for the Society’s continued progress under her leadership.
