From the international site of the SVDP…The National Council of France held its Congress in Marseille with attendance of over 700 Vincentians. The President General, Dr. Michael Thio and his wife, Rosalind, and accompanied by Jean Tirado, Executive Director(CGI), attended the Congress. They were warmly welcomed by Bruno Dardelet, National President, Jacqueline Colson, National Vice-President, and several members of the Board. In his speech, Dr. Michael Thio said that it was a great honour and privilege to participate in the Congressafter the successful merger of the French Federation and UOF which is a historical achievement and offered his heartiest Congratulations to the merger. The International Confederation(CGI) welcomes SSVP France to be back in being a full member of the Confederation and to work in close collaboration between the French Society and Council General International which will be beneficial to both our organizations. CGI look forward to SSVP France in going forward progressively and professionally in the service of the poor and needy for the greater glory of God.CGI also congratulated SSVP France for the status of “Grande Cause Nationale” being granted to the French Society by the French Government for their very successful campaign against loneliness in France. This is a very prestigious award and CGI is very pleased and proud of their achievement.CGI applaud their commitment and efforts in serving the poor and needy to eradicate poverty and hardships as far a possible.
