The Tablet reports (Latest News, May 27), that the St Vincent de Paul Society would not be willing to be part of a new charitable work grouping proposed by the bishops of England and Wales. The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, which has 10,000 volunteers in England and Wales, says it wishes to keep its identity separate. “I think from a practical point of view it is not feasible to have a global charity under one body,” the SVP’s international president, Br Michael Thio, told The Tablet.
