Servant of God Vladimir Ghika (1873 -1954) introduced the Daughters of Charity in Romania in 1939. introduced the Daughters of Charity in Romania in 1939. Vladimir Ghika was born in Constantinople in a royal Orthodox Romanian family. He was living in Paris when he converted to Catholicism (1902). Ordained priest (1923) he sought to serve the most disadvantaged.
After the war during Stalinist era he reported on the situation in Communist Romania. He was imprisoned and subjected to a rigged judicial process where is convicted. He died in prison on May 17, 1954 as a true martyr of the faith, real reason for his detention.
