FAMVIN Australia, on behalf of the Vincentian Priests and Brothers in Australia, is holding a Social Justice Day on July 3rd this year. The Day will be held at De La Salle College Hall, Bland St., Ashfield (Sydney), from 9.00 am – 5.00pm. The theme for the day is Act Justly – Addressing injustice in modern Australia, focusing on some of the most marginalised groups in our Australian community. The objective for the day is to inform the participants about refugees and asylum seekers, issues affecting Indigenous Australians, and homelessness in Australia – and to seek justice in their regard.

There will be two keynote addresses, the topics being,  If home is where the heart is, how do we give heart to the homeless? How as a society/individual should we respond? (Addressed by Sue Cripps, CEO of Homelessness NSW) and Is the treatment of Indigenous Australians and asylum seekers/refugees history repeating itself? From personal experience what are the justice/injustice issues? (Addressed by Bishop Eugene Hurley, Bishop of Darwin)

A panel discussion will take place after lunch, and following the discussion, time has been allowed for individuals to formulate some action which they can take away to their own areas. The day will conclude with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Eugene.

There is a small cost of $20 for the day.
