“Think of it as a short-term Peace Corps” writes Sister Mary Lou McGrath of their third annual Charity in the City program. The Sisters of Charity of New York are offering the 3rd year of Charity in the City. This 2-week service program offers women volunteers, 18-30 years of age, a chance to live and work with the Sisters in their ministries to the poor. Plenty of chances to visit NYC’s tourist sites, too. Program runs June 5 – 18. Apply by May 15. Details & application online at www.scny.org Contact: Sr. Mary Lou McGrath, SC at mlmcgrath@scny.org or 718.549.9200 x 244.
See famvin story about the second annual program as well as the blog for last years program.
Are you aware of the fact that many Vincentian Family groups sponsor such immersion programs?
Reflections:
- What do you think of the concept of a Vincentian Family “Peace Corps”?
- Would you like to be listed in a collection of such programs to recommend to young people? (If so use the contact us link on famvin.)
