The Canadian SVDP website notes that the President of the Superior Counci of the SVDP  of Japan, Bro. Masahito Nakayama reports that the Society has conferences in the Sendai area .  The President of the Sandai Council was visiting another region  last Friday and escaped the disaster, however, he has no news of other Vincentians living in the region. Please note that the Society has a small presence on the Japanese islands: 48 conferences and 253 members (ICG report May 2010).  The Daughters of Charity and the Congregation of the Mission have mission houses in Kobe City (south) according to FAMVIN web report published on March 14, 2011.

President Nakayama has asked for support from the ICG to help him and local Vincentians in their relief efforts. The ICG has indicated that funds will be forwarded to the Superior Council of Japan as a result. The National Council of Canada is not considering an appeal for financial contributions at this time. Please keep our brothers and sisters Vincentians and all those affected by this tragedy in Japan in your prayers.
