Save the date! “Vincentian Family Together Building Bridges Out of Poverty” October 20-23, 2011 Marten House Hotel and Lilly Conference Center Indianapolis, Indiana.
Systemic Change among those living in poverty aims beyond providing food, clothing and shelter to alleviate immediate needs to helping people themselves engage in the identification of the root causes of their poverty and to create strategies, including advocacy, to address those structures which keep them in poverty. Systemic Change requires transforming attitudes.
In collaboration with St. Vincent Health Center, we will:
- Explore concepts and processes of “Bridges Out of Poverty”* as a way of understanding and moving toward systemic change in the North American context
- Share efforts of the Bridges Community of Indianapolis and introduce local Getting Ahead graduates who are moving themselves out of poverty
- Continue to promote collaboration in the Vincentian Family.
