Michael Thio, the first non-European President General-elect of the international Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers his first reflections.

Mr. Thio was elected during the General Assembly held in Salamanca (Spain) in late May. This former International Vice-President of the Society of St. Vincent dePaul, was elected to succeed Jose Ramon Torremocha. He was formerly the Managing Director of BT (British Telecom) South East Asia and now serves in the capacity as Senior Consultant. This marks the first time in it’s nearly 180 year history that a non-European has held the Presidency.
