Jacqueline Casseus, AIC Prsident inĀ Haiti, was able to send this rushed note to Laurence de La Brosse, the International President of the AIC.
My dear Laurence,
This is the first day since January 12th, the day of my celebration, that events worked out for me to thank you for all your prayers and those of the whole international AIC. We have received your letter and the money that the Daughters of Charity got to us for the AIC. We send all our thanks.
However we still rely on your prayers because we are still threatened in Haiti but we know that the all-powerful God will have compassion on us. Thereās no electricity so I have to wait behind a line of people in order to be able to send one message; I ask you to be willing to send news of us on, if you please, to our former President Marina Costa, to our Secretary, Natalie, to Anne Sturm, to Aniece, to Fr. Maloney and the whole international team.
For the present, we are always in the street because there are volunteers there whose homes are destroyed or damaged and everyone is afraid and all are traumatized. I myself when I was there remember saying “Jesus, save me” and I found myself outside and the house fell down in front of me. You can understand my shock. About the money people have sent, weāll see after the report on the distribution. Donāt forget to pass on our news because many would love to have an update and the time for me to write is over so I need to end.
With all my thanks and love,
Jacqueline Casseus
