We offer first report from the 5th Latin American Meeting of Vincentian Family taking place in Mexico.
145 represenatives of the Vincentian Family from 18 Latin American and Caribbean countries participate in the 5th Latin American Meeting of Vincentian Family, taking place from February 16 by 20, 2009 at the headquarters of the Mexican Bishops Conference in the State of Mexico.
There are two purposes of the meeting: first, a training course for leaders and lay counselors, who can offer support to their brothers and sisters in their their walk, and second, is to learn, assimilate and promote systemic change in different countries of origin.
Topics of the meeting are:
- “The role of the laity in the Church today”,
- “Role and tasks of lay counselor”,
- “Key spirituality elements of lay Vincentian counselor”,
- “Saint Louise as an example of leadership”,
- “Counselor and ethical awareness”,
- “Technical team as the foundation of good leadership”,
- “The Social Doctrine of the Church: context for Systemic Change”,
- “What Systemic Change consists”,
- “Strategies for Systemic Change”,
- “Mission oriented strategies”,
- “People oriented strategies,”
- “Task strategies,”
- “Solidarity and participation strategies”,
- “Global vision in the context of Objectives of the Millennium.”
Dynamic and technical means will be applied to emphasize the development of the meeting. Concrete examples and factors of Systemic Change will be provided.
Finally, the content of the basic text on Systemic Change: “Seeds of Hope (Stories of Systemic Change)” will be explained.
Brief reports of Vincentian Family representatives from participating countries will be presented and discussed. There will be moments of prayer, entertainment, a Eucharistic Celebration at the Basilica of Guadalupe. The place and date of the next Latin American Vincentian Family meeting will be set.
