The St Vincent de Paul Society is gearing up to host a social justice themed concert, Vinnies World Youth 4 Justice on July 17th 2008 from 6pm, following the official arrival of Pope Benedict XVI to Barangaroo, Sydney.
In what promises to be one of the largest gatherings of young people Australia has ever seen, over 150,000 World Youth Day Pilgrims are expected to attend and join Vinnies in making a statement about social justice and speaking out about issues including homelessness, poverty and hunger in Australia and overseas, isolation of people suffering from mental illness and migrants and refugees.
In what promises to be the largest ever gathering of youth i Australia Vinnies will draw on music, performances, songs and video messages to share the spirit and passion of social justice to inspire the youth of the world to take action, be part of the solution and offer the hand of friendship, hope and compassion to those most in need.
