Pope Benedict sent special greetings to the participants in  the International Youth Workday Study, sponsored by the International Confederation of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, that is taking place in
Salamanca.

He invites “all to encounter the face of Jesus Christ in every human person, above all, in the most needy and the infirmed, in those who live in loneliness or who feel marginalized and in all those whose only desire is a smile or a word of consolation.  For the Christian, love of neighbor is not a calculated strategy to receive applause from the world or a burdensome obligation, but the natural love God has for all and the most genuine way to imitate Christ, the brilliant font from which springs the strength to never tire of loving others with generous dedication.”
