The magazine Irish America has named Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Patricia Cruise and Sister of Charity of New York Peggy McEntee to its 2008 roster of Top 100 Irish-Americans.

Sister Cruise is director of Covenant House. She is responsible for raising $120 million (USD) annually for Covenant House services, which include shelters in 21 cities.

Sister McEntee taught award-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley. Shanley based younger character in his play “Doubt” on Sister McEntee and she is serving as technical adviser for the film production. She teaches religion and is campus minister at Notre Dame High School, an all-girls school in Manhattan.

The April-May issue of Irish America includes a lengthy interview with Sister McEntee. When the article becomes available online, famvin.org will provide a link.
