Yesterday the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill expressing the sense of Congress “that the United States has a moral responsibility to meet the needs of those persons, groups and communities that are impoverished, disadvantaged or otherwise in poverty” and calling for the U.S. to “set a national goal of cutting poverty in half over the next 10 years using a strategy that promotes good jobs at livable wages.” Read the bill.
