Rev. Peter Le Jacq, medical doctor and Maryknoll Missioner will deliver a speech, Building a Civilization Without Borders, on January 28, during St. John’s University’s Founder’s Week celebration. Le Jacq, has served during his career in various clinical, academic, pastoral and administrative roles, including serving as a priest and doctor in Tanzania. He also served as adviser to Pope John Paul II on AIDS in East Africa. He currently works with Touch Foundation, focusing on efforts to address the global health care crisis. As the St. John’s description of the upcoming event observes, “Fr. Peter’s work reflects St. Vincent de Paul’s words, ‘Charity embraces justice,’ as he not only responded to the need to provide medical care, but also is addressing the systemic need for health care professionals and hospitals in Tanzania.”
For reservations (which are recommended), contact the St. John’s Vincentian Center for Church and Society at (718) 990-1612, or email vccs@stjohns.edu.
