The poor of Africa have an “anonymous Vincentian” (pace Karl Rahner) as their ally in the fight against deadly diseases. Bono, ambassador of the ONE campaign geared to end global poverty, received an “Image” award from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in the USA. Bono is an internationally known musician and lead vocalist of the Irish rock group “U2.” Young people all over the globe know his music by heart. I’ve always known he was an ally of the poor, but I never heard it so clearly as in his acceptance speech, captured in this YouTube footage:
